Based on the feedback I received on our first draft, there are actually a lot of things we as a group and me myself need to work on. First of all, the foundation of the whole project "lines," from the first draft, we knew that our script was too long. So, we solved that immediately after class, we cut mostly Amanda's lines and to make the story still make sense, we kind of annotated the long paragraph into couple sentences, or we just picked out some of the most critical lines from the paragraphs. Secondly, about acting skills (which include voice, emotions, body languages, and movements). I would like to say both me and David C are pretty much ok with the acting skills' part. Our group member David D needs to work more on the acting skill, maybe try to find more videos about Laura and learn from it, we will definitely help him also. Thirdly, about staging and blocking. We definitely have to work on this part, what we had for the first draft was really not that good, we did not use the stage well, and the blocking was too simple, and characters are too far away which looked like characters do not really have connections between them. About blocking, we should all fan out more so that audience can see our facial expressions. And we should block and think about when Tom and Amanda have the argument what should Laura do---typing? Or something else? We should all work on how to act out details to make the scene looks better and naturally, details include body languages, movements, use of props and stage, etc.
As playing Amanda, I should personly improve the blocking, the usage of stage especially when I yelled at Tom, I should fan out much more to show the facial expression. Secondly, use more body language and get more "angry" for scene 2, and more depressed and disappointed at Laura for scene 1. The rehearsal techniques that we are using is Peter Brook's use more physical props to show more details. And a technique from a lot of theorists---feel like the character and to experience more about your character.
