Reflection
We spend couple weeks on this poetry project, which is that we chose a poem by ourself, memorized it and turned it into a stage performance in our interpretations. Last Friday and this Monday we finished our final draft of the performances. What all of us did good was that we all memorized the poem well and performed without any mistakes, not as I can tell. Being really familiar with our poem is the most important part that make this performance successful. What makes the poetry come to life is that everyone understood the poem by themselves and acted out using the true emotion along with their interpretations and their views of the poem. Grace, Aaron and I, I think us three's facial expressions are the highlight of our performances, the facial expressions really brought the audience into that emotions and atmosphere we are creating. Mine at the last part, my facial expression is full of both scariness and firm, to say that "All you will see is this masks and no pain that I bare"
Also, body movement is one of the important part of making the poem alive. What I did is that I fell down on the floor and half of the performance I was on the floor and crawled on the floor, in order to create the despair and the down atmosphere. What engaged audience would be the first move performers made or the background music that performers chose. I think background music is more important, because it sort of create and set up the keynote of the whole performance.
