Reflection on performance

Our performance has a total time length of 14 minutes. In general, I think our group did a really good job. We recorded twice because of the camera issue, but in terms of performance, we all did only one take each time, and we have the least line mistakes or other basic mistakes. Our group's strengths would be that each of us has the lines memorized really well so that we did not make stupid mistakes on stage. In my opinion, I think we improved a lot from the first draft of the performance, and there is a huge improvement especially on lines and voice volume even emotion performance. Also, after I watched our video as an audience, I found out that the atmosphere that the music creat at the very beginning of the scene really brought me into the whole situation and really think about the time period and try to connect with the actors. I also like the set up of our stage, and it saved us more time to focus on performing instead of memorizing cues for scene changes. Our weakness would be that the center stage where I was sitting was a bit off center when I watched the video, the setting could be better, the stage could be separate more evenly and gave a better visual effect. Also, except Cassidy who moved from her side to my side, neither David nor I leave our own area. There could be more blocking and levels shown on the stage to make the performance better, although it would not make sense that David and I have the conversation together. For my own performance, I think there should be more blocking and levels instead of just sitting there for the whole time. I could have memorized the voice over to add on to my performance. My strengths would be that, I spoke much louder with emotion and still showed the weakness of the mother. I was proud of my last minute idea of asking Grace to help to come up as a soldier to hit me, and it really helps to act out the weakness of the mother and made the whole scene looked much more smoother.
